Print Services

Example - Lumen Christi Catholic Parish, Wollongong

Wollongong's Cathedral Parish had a long history of using comprehensive hymnals - Gather Australia from around 2000 and Catholic Worship Book II since 2016. The Cathedral is not suited to the installation of projection equipment, so they were looking for a durable light-weight hymnal with the majority of congregational hymns used throughout the year. No such single hymnal is available in Australia today.

The Administrator asked if it was possible to create their own parish hymnal. A small group within the parish looked at the feasibility financially and logistically. The parish contacted Liturgical Song, Impressu Print Group and their Parish Graphic Artist for quotes, and came to the conclusion that a bespoke hymnal, Our Parish Hymnal, is more than viable. Base Repertoire

Liturgical Song has already typeset a Hymns and Spiritual Songs Base Repertoire, based on an A5 format songbook, with just 3 pages of contents and introductory material, and 151 popular hymns and spiritual songs from the One License catalogue in a total of 160 pages. The Base Repertoire covers all Sundays, seasons, feasts and solemnities of the liturgical year as well as weddings, funerals, confirmation, reconciliation, adoration, morning prayer and evening prayer. Liturgical Song has already typeset a Mass Settings Base Repertoire including two of the top three most popular Mass settings in use in Australia (Mass Shalom, and Mass of Glory and Praise), as well as the chant setting (Mass of the Saints) used in the Australian Bishops' Mass For You At Home, broadcast weekly on Network Ten, Foxtel and YouTube. Again, it is based on an A5 format songbook, with just 1 page of introductory material, and 23 pages of melody and lyrics, a total of 24 pages.

Liturgical Song has already typeset a Psalms Base Repertoire including all common and seasonal psalms from the popular Psalms For All Time Volume 1 collection, as featured in the Australian Bishops' Mass For You At Home and the Catholic Diocese of Wollongong's Annual Lenten Programs. Again, it is based on an A5 format songbook, with just 1 page of introductory material, and 11 pages of melody and lyrics, a total of 12 pages.

Expanding the Repertoire

You can expand this base repertoire to include your parish favourites from the vast One License catalogue that are not included in the Base Repertoire. The cost from Liturgical Song for your particular parish hymnal will be based on the additional Typeset Frames required to add particular repertoire items over and above the Base Repertoire.

Liturgical Song Typesetting and Consultancy Services Rates

Liturgical Song charges for its typesetting services based on the typesetting effort. 

The typesetting effort can be estimated by the number of additional Titles and the number of Typeset Frames required to be typeset. A Typeset Frame is a non-empty bar on a single staff. So one bar of lyrics and melody involving one staff is one Typeset Frame.

• Liturgical Song's current Typesetting Services rates average $20 per Title and A$1.79 per Typeset Frame. The actual rate depends on the particular complexity and could be up to 20% lower or higher.

Liturgical Song charges an hourly rate for ad hoc consultancy services to your parish related to strategy, planning, design, production and other aspects of "Our Parish Hymnal" as well as the consolidation and review of the overall typesetting effort.
