"Our Parish Hymnal" Typesetting and Consulting Services

In this approach to hymnals and worship aids, Liturgical Song offers its expertise and experience in typesetting, creating beautiful A5 format pages of music and lyrics of your chosen repertoire, and in general consultancy on the development and production of your custom supplementary hymnal.

Liturgical Song creates music notation using the Steinberg Dorico software, and provides output as a PDF score of melody and lyrics for use in the printing of "Our Parish Hymnal."

Base Repertoire

Liturgical Song has already typeset a Hymns and Spiritual Songs Base Repertoire, based on an A5 format songbook, with just 3 pages of contents and introductory material, and 151 popular hymns and spiritual songs from the One License catalogue in a total of 160 pages. The Base Repertoire covers all Sundays, seasons, feasts and solemnities of the liturgical year as well as weddings, funerals, confirmation, reconciliation, adoration, morning prayer and evening prayer.

Liturgical Song has already typeset a Mass Settings Base Repertoire including the three most popular Mass settings in use in Australia (Mass of St Francis, Mass Shalom, and Mass of Glory and Praise), as well as the chant setting (Mass of the Saints) used in the Australian Bishops' Mass For You At Home, broadcast weekly on Network Ten, Foxtel and YouTube. Again, it is based on an A5 format songbook, with just 1 page of introductory material, and 23 pages of melody and lyrics, a total of 24 pages.

Liturgical Song has already typeset a Psalms Base Repertoire including all common and seasonal psalms from the Psalms For All Time Volume 1 collection, as featured in the Australian Bishops' Mass For You At Home and the Catholic diocese of Wollongong's Annual Lenten Programs. Again, it is based on an A5 format songbook, with just 1 page of introductory material, and 11 pages of melody and lyrics, a total of 12 pages.

Using the above there are just 196 pages in your Base Repertoire "Our Parish Hymnal" - a light-weight, easy-to-use hymnal for your parishioners.

Expanding the Repertoire

The provision of the Base Repertoire is Liturgical Song's gift to your particular parish hymnal. You can expand this base repertoire to include your parish favourites from the vast One License catalogue that are not included in the Base Repertoire. The cost from Liturgical Song for your particular parish hymnal will be based on the additional frames required to add particular repertoire items over and above the Base Repertoire.

Liturgical Song Typesetting and Consultancy Services Rates

Liturgical Song charges for its typesetting services based on the typesetting effort. 

The typesetting effort can be estimated by the number of frames required to be typeset. A frame is a non-empty bar on a single staff. So one bar of lyrics and melody involving one staff is one frame. The current rate averages at A$1.79 per frame. The actual rate depends on the particular complexity and could be up to 20% lower or higher.

Liturgical Song charges an hourly rate for ad hoc consultancy services to your parish related to strategy, planning, design, production and other aspects of "Our Parish Hymnal" as well as the consolidation and review of the overall typesetting effort. Liturgical Song's consultancy services are provided at the hourly rate of A$79.80.
